1. Who We Are
BakBak ("we", "us", "our") is an anonymous peer-to-peer chat platform. For legal inquiries, contact us at roly.forge@gmail.com.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the service:
- Display name and interests — entered voluntarily on the home screen, stored only in your browser's session storage and never sent to our servers in persistent form.
- Chat messages — relayed in real time between matched users. We do not store, log, or retain chat messages on our servers. Messages exist only in transit.
- IP address and connection metadata — automatically collected by our servers when you connect via WebSocket. Retained in server logs for up to 30 days for abuse prevention and security purposes.
- Report submissions — if you report a user, we log the report including the reported session ID and timestamp for moderation purposes.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To match you with another user based on shared interests
- To operate, secure, and improve the platform
- To investigate abuse reports and take appropriate action
- To comply with legal obligations and law enforcement requests
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Cookies and Session Storage
BakBak does not use tracking cookies. We use browser sessionStorage to temporarily store your chosen display name and interests within your current browser tab. This data is automatically cleared when you close the tab and is never transmitted to external services.
5. Data Retention
- Chat messages: never stored
- Server connection logs (IP, timestamps): up to 30 days
- Abuse reports: retained as long as necessary for moderation
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, India's DPDP Act 2023), you may have the right to:
- Request access to or deletion of your data
- Object to processing of your personal data
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

7. Children's Privacy
BakBak is strictly for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor is using the platform, please report it immediately to roly.forge@gmail.com.
8. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including rate limiting, room isolation, and input validation. However, no internet service is 100% secure. Use BakBak at your own risk.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of BakBak after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
